Q and A - what type of gamer are you?

I have been playing games since I was 6, when I got my first console – PlayStation 1. I also remember the popular snake game which was available on the phones at the time and that was on my first Nokia phone.

When I was younger, I preferred to go outside rather than sit at home. Although that didn’t mean I didn’t enjoy playing games. I always had good selection of games ranging from racing games such as World Rally Championship to Adventure games such as Rayman.

Right now, I can find a lot of time to play video games as I got a lot of spare time. I prioritise work over other activities, although I can probably play 24 hours over a weekend.

I play games as they provide me with a different kind of entertainment; it lets me enter a world of my own and engage in a certain story, in a way only a video game lets me. Video games – unlike movies – are engaging, as you control what is going on the screen. I also enjoy playing games as it lets me do what I wouldn’t do in real-life, a good example is Battlefield. I wouldn’t exactly want to go to war, but I enjoy the story etc.

I am more encouraged to play video games if I know what the game is about, especially when the video game is already a well-established series. Such games which I really find to my liking are Assassin Creed, Grand Theft Auto and above all: Fallout. I would also be more encouraged to play video games if I had more time.

Because of video games, I was inspired to learn concept art and other aspects of the video game industry as a whole and it lead me to the career goals I want to achieve now.

When it comes to consoles, I have owned PS1, PS2, PS3 and now I own a PS4. I also owned a computer and various mobile phones which I used as sort-of gaming platforms also.

Overall my favourite gaming platform depends on what games I want to play. When it comes to RTS (Real-Time-Strategy) I play such video games on my PC. Otherwise I tend to stick to a console which at the moment is the PS3/4. I dislike hand-held platform games as I find them hard to get used to.

My favourite game series has to be Fallout as it is different than any other game as it shows the alternate future and the horrors of a nuclear war. Fallout has a brilliant narrative which the player has an impact on. I really like the moral choices you also have to make, therefore it requires you to put some thought into your actions.

Another great aspect of Fallout, it has great quests and cool ways of solving them. In short, Fallout has all the things that a successful RPG should have. This game series got me to love certain RPG games, mostly from that same company.

I am making my game in my chosen art style and such, simply because I am inspired by the Fallout game series. I have suited the game world and such to the theme that my game has to follow, which is Kaiju.
